On Sunday, March 10th, 2013, 11:30 - 4:00 PM, the International Center of the Capital Region (ICCR), in collaboration with the Irish American Heritage Museum (IAHM), will be offering a local half-day bus outing celebrating and exploring the contributions of the Irish and their culture to the Capital District. The day begins at the Irish American Heritage Museum at 370 Broadway, with an introduction by former Assembly member and historian Jack McEneny.  Then across the Hudson River to tour the City of Troy’s historic downtown with Rensselaer County Historian Kathryn T. Sheehan. (We may stop for a “nip” before leaving and going on to the City of Cohoes.) A local historian will lead the group on a tour of historic Cohoes (the Spindle City) including a stop at a historic Erie Canal Lock. Before leaving Cohoes, we will stop at Smith’s (built in 1873) for a quick “nip” and to learn a little bit of its unique history. We will end our day back in Albany.
